At First Choice Federal Credit Union we believe the best investment for the future is education. Our members, aged 17-24 who are pursuing post-high school education (college, university, vocational, or trade school) are eligible to apply for either the Edward J Cialella Memorial Scholarship or the Shenango Valley Credit Union Chapter Scholarship. Applicants must complete the application process and submit an essay. In order to make the process easier for our young members, we have adopted the same application and essay for both scholarships.
Members can apply for one of the Shenango Valley Credit Union Chapter Scholarships. Applications can be picked up at any participating credit union in the Shenango Valley (Lawrence or Mercer Counties).
Since 2011, we are proud to sponsor the Edward J Cialella Scholarship Fund exclusive to our members. Eddie not only served as our long-term Board President, but also the President and Board Member of the Shenango Valley Credit Union Chapter. Upon his passing, we wanted to honor his memory by offering something that captured his passion for learning and his commitment to the future.
Members can participate in the funding of both of these scholarships year round. The proceeds of the Daffins Candy Bar sales in all three locations and in all credit unions in the valley go toward the Shenango Valley Chapter Scholarship. To fund the Edward J Cialella Memorial Scholarship, the credit union hosts a variety of fund raisers throughout the year.
